Just to let you know, Rennes-le-Château is famous in France for the hypothetical treasure discovered by l'abbé Saunière (a priest) late in the 19th century.

With no apparent fortune or income, he had tremendous works conducted : renovation of a very ancient church, construction of a villa, a tower, a galery, another tower of glass and gardens.
Rumor had it he had discovered a Roman treasure (Solomon's temple loot) or the treasure of the wisigoths kings once settled in the area.

No one knows where the money came from, and some treasure hunters are still extensively looking for the remains of the treasure, which is yet to be found, if it ever existed.
